When Interruptions Become Opportunities

“And He went off with him; and a large crowd was following Him and pressing in on Him. And immediately Jesus, perceiving in Himself that power from Him had gone out, turned around in the crowd and said, ‘Who touched My garments?’”
Mark 5:24, 30

Jairus was walking with Jesus toward a crisis. His daughter was dying. Every moment mattered. Then a woman in the crowd touched Jesus, and everything paused.

To Jairus, it may have felt like the worst possible interruption.

But Jesus was not being distracted. He was being purposeful.

The woman’s healing was not a side story. It was a preview.

Jairus was about to watch Jesus do what no one else could do. Before Jesus raised his daughter, He let Jairus see His power up close.

What feels like delay to us is never delay to Christ.

He is never rushed, never late, and never off course.

He knows who needs healing. He knows who is waiting. He knows exactly what He is doing.

This moment taught Jairus something he would need in the next few verses: Jesus can be trusted even when the clock is ticking.

Delays are not always denials.

Sometimes they are preparation. Sometimes they are proof. Sometimes they are mercy in a form we do not yet understand.

What interruption has frustrated you lately?

What delay has made you question God’s timing?

Do not assume the pause means Jesus is absent. Do not mistake His timing for neglect.

Trust Him in the wait. Look for His purpose in the pause. What feels delayed may be setting the stage for deeper faith and greater glory.

Prayer:

Father, help us trust You when life does not move at the pace we want. Teach us to see Your hand in the pauses, the detours, and the delays. Strengthen our faith when we are tempted to panic. Remind us that Jesus is never distracted and never late. He is always at work. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
