The Invitation To True Family
“Answering them, He said, ‘Who are My mother and My brothers?’ And looking around at those who were sitting around Him, He said, ‘Here are My mother and My brothers!’”
Mark 3:34
Jesus wasn't creating an exclusive club for the elite or the perfect. It was an open invitation to anyone willing to draw close to Christ.
Notice the contrast Mark presents: those on the outside calling Jesus to come to them, and those on the inside who had come to Jesus.
His biological family stood outside, unable or unwilling to push through the crowd. But inside, ordinary people sat at the feet of the Son of God.
The difference wasn't social status, education, or religious pedigree. The difference was proximity to Jesus.
Those who pressed in close, who made the effort to hear His words and follow His teachings, became His true family.
This invitation remains open today. You don't need perfect theology or a spotless past. You don't need to clean up your life before coming to Christ.
You simply need to draw near to Him with a sincere heart, ready to listen and obey.
Evaluate your proximity to Jesus. Are you standing on the outside, keeping Him at a distance? Or are you pressing in close, eager to hear His voice and follow His lead?
Take a concrete step today to draw nearer to Christ.
Prayer:
Jesus, I want to be part of Your inner circle, not because I deserve it, but because You've invited me. Help me push through whatever crowds or obstacles keep me from drawing close to You. I want to sit at Your feet and learn from You. Make me a faithful member of Your spiritual family. In Your name, Amen.
