The God Who Comes Near

"And looking up to heaven with a deep sigh, He said to him, 'Ephphatha!' that is, 'Be opened!'"
Mark 7:34 

Before Jesus said a word, He sighed. A deep sigh.  

That one detail tells us everything about the heart of God. This was not a detached, clinical miracle.  

Jesus felt the weight of this man's suffering.  

He looked into a broken life and was moved. 

Scripture confirms this is not an isolated moment.  

Isaiah 35:5–6 promised that when God came to save His people, the ears of the deaf would be opened and the tongue of the mute would shout for joy.  

Mark is not just telling a miracle story. He is showing us that Jesus is the fulfillment of that ancient promise.  

The God who spoke the universe into existence looked at one hurting man and said, "I see you." 

He does the same for you. God does not observe your pain with indifference.  

He is the God who draws near, who sighs with you in the hard moments, and who has the authority to speak a word that changes everything. 

Bring one specific burden to God in prayer today. Not a general prayer, but a specific, honest conversation.  

Tell Him exactly what is heavy, and trust that He is leaning in to hear you.

Prayer:

Father, thank You that You are not far off. You see my pain, and You are moved by it. I bring You the weight I have been carrying, and I trust You to speak Your word over it. Open my ears to hear You clearly. In Jesus' name, Amen.
