The Divine Paradox

"For whoever wishes to save his life will lose it, but whoever loses his life for My sake and the gospel's will save it.”
Mark 8:35 

This is one of the most counterintuitive statements Jesus ever made.  

If you grip your life tightly, you lose it. If you give it away for His sake, you find it.  

It sounds backwards, but it is profoundly true. 

If you surrender your life to Jesus, you get your life and Jesus.  

If you choose your life over Jesus, you lose both.  

That is not a threat; it is a warning from someone who loves you enough to tell you the truth before it is too late. 

We spend so much energy protecting our plans, our comfort, and our futures.  

We treat our lives like something fragile that needs constant guarding.  

But Jesus says the safest place your life can be is given away to Him.  

The grip of self-preservation is exactly what keeps people from experiencing real life. 

Ask yourself honestly: Am I living for my agenda or His?  

Write down one place where self-preservation is keeping you from full surrender, and bring it before God in prayer this week. 

Prayer:

Jesus, I want to truly live, and I know that means surrendering my grip on my own life. Help me trust You enough to let go. I believe that what You offer is worth far more than anything I am holding onto. In Your name, Amen.
