Carry The Cross

"He must deny himself, and take up his cross and follow Me.”
Mark 8:34 

When Jesus said "take up your cross," no one in that crowd smiled and nodded.  

They knew exactly what a cross meant. Crucifixion had been practiced for 700 years.  

Those who carried a cross were not heading toward uncertainty; they were heading toward certain death.  

There was no other destination. 

So when Jesus says to take up your cross, He is not speaking about inconvenience or minor sacrifices.  

He is describing a life fully surrendered to Him, a life that says, "God, help me be prepared to die for You today."  

That prayer sounds extreme until you realize it is just the honest version of what every follower already signed up for. 

Carrying your cross also means something else: you will look different from the world, and you will love the world anyway.  

You will receive hostility, and you will respond like Christ.

That is not natural. That is supernatural.  

And that is exactly the point. 

Start your morning prayer with this simple line: "God, help me be prepared to live and die for You today."  

Let that prayer recalibrate everything that follows. 

Prayer:

Lord, I do not always want to stand out. I do not always want to suffer. But I trust that the path You call me to walk is worth it. Give me courage to pick up my cross today and follow You without hesitation. In Jesus' name, Amen.
