The Authority Of Jesus
“Jesus gave them permission. And coming out, the unclean spirits entered the pigs; and the herd rushed down the steep bank into the sea, about two thousand of them; and they were drowned in the sea.”
Mark 5:13
When Jesus speaks, all of creation listens, including the forces of darkness.
The demons begged Jesus not to torment them, pleading to enter the nearby pigs instead.
Notice that Jesus didn't force them into the swine. He gave them permission.
Even in judgment, Jesus maintains perfect control and authority.
What happened next proves the destructive nature of evil. The moment the demons entered the pigs, the entire herd rushed down the cliff and drowned.
This wasn't random chaos. This was a clear demonstration that Satan's only goal is destruction.
He offers temporary pleasure but always delivers death.
The demons knew exactly who Jesus was. They called Him "Son of the Most High God" while people were still asking, "Who is this man?"
Evil recognizes divine authority even when good people miss it.
The forces of hell bow before Jesus while humans often ignore Him.
Stop trying to fight spiritual battles with worldly methods.
You can't overcome temptation through willpower alone. You can't defeat depression through positive thinking alone.
Use the authority Jesus has given you. Speak His name over your struggles and watch darkness flee.
Prayer:
Jesus, thank You that Your name has power over every force of evil. When I'm under attack, remind me that I don't fight alone. You've given me authority through Your name. Help me use it boldly and confidently. In Your powerful name, Amen.
