When Jesus Comes To Town

“And they began to beg Him to leave their region.”
Mark 5:17

The same Jesus who brings freedom to the captive can make the comfortable very uncomfortable.

Instead of celebrating the miracle, they "began to implore Him to leave their region."

They preferred living with demons rather than living with Jesus. Why?

Because Jesus disrupts the status quo.

These people had learned to live with evil. The demon-possessed man was their problem, but he was a predictable problem. They knew how to avoid him.

Jesus, however, represented something they couldn't control. His presence demanded a response they weren't ready to give.

The same thing happens today. People say they want God to move, but when He actually shows up, they get nervous.

Real transformation is messy. It requires change. It costs something.

Sometimes it's easier to live with familiar bondage than to embrace unfamiliar freedom.

Examine your own heart. Are there areas where you've become comfortable with compromise? Where you've learned to manage sin rather than surrender it?

Ask Jesus to disrupt your comfort zones. True spiritual growth requires letting Him turn your world upside down.

Prayer:

Lord, I confess that sometimes I want Your blessings without Your lordship. Forgive me for trying to keep You at arm's length. Come into every area of my life and disrupt whatever needs disrupting. I choose transformation over comfort. In Jesus' name, Amen.
