Stop Worrying About Bread

"Do you not yet understand?”
Mark 8:21

Here is the scene. Jesus has just confronted the Pharisees, warned the disciples about spiritual corruption, and asked them a series of pointed questions about His miraculous provision.

His point was unmistakable:

He is the Messiah. He is God. He is enough.

And the disciples were worried about sandwiches.

Jesus responded with one of the most loaded questions in all of Scripture: "Do you not yet understand?"

He was not talking about food. He was talking about Himself.

Why are you consumed with what fills your stomach when the One who made the universe is sitting in the boat with you?

It sounds almost absurd. But replace "bread" with your mortgage, your diagnosis, your job situation, or your relationship struggles, and suddenly it hits close to home.

We spend enormous energy managing the material while neglecting the eternal.

Jesus is not dismissing your real needs. He is reorienting your priorities.

You have a Provider. Stop living like you do not.

Your soul needs more attention than your schedule. What you feed spiritually matters more than what you fill physically.

The same Jesus who multiplied loaves for thousands is present in your crisis right now.

The question He asks you today is the same one He asked them: Do you not yet understand?

Identify one worry that has dominated your thoughts this week.

Deliberately give it to God in prayer today, and choose to spend equal time in Scripture as you do thinking about that problem.

Prayer:

Jesus, forgive me for focusing more on what I lack than on who You are. You are the Messiah, my Provider, and my Lord. Help me trust You with everything that feels too big for me today. Amen.
