Preparing the Way

“Make ready the way of the Lord, make His paths straight.”
Mark 1:3

When a king traveled in ancient times, a herald went ahead to prepare the road. Obstacles were cleared. Paths were straightened. The people were warned: The king is coming.

John the Baptist was that herald.

But he wasn’t preparing a physical road. He was preparing hearts.

The greatest obstacle to Jesus is not distance. It’s resistance.

Pride resists Him.

Self-sufficiency resists Him.

Hidden sin resists Him.

Intellectual objections resist Him.

John’s message was simple: Prepare.

Lower the mountains of pride. Fill the valleys of doubt. Straighten the crooked paths of compromise.

Jesus was coming, and preparation mattered.

That message hasn’t changed.

Today, ask yourself: What stands in the way of Jesus having full access to my heart?

Is there something you’re defending? Something you’re excusing? Something you’re holding back?

Preparation requires honesty.

You cannot welcome the King while guarding parts of your life from Him.

Today, make straight paths. Confess what needs confessing. Surrender what needs surrendering.

The King deserves a clear road.

Prayer:

Lord, reveal the obstacles in my heart. Give me humility to repent and courage to prepare the way. I want nothing blocking my relationship with You. Amen.
