Crumbs From The Table

"And He was saying to her, 'Let the children be satisfied first, for it is not good to take the children's bread and throw it to the dogs.' But she answered and said to Him, 'Yes, Lord, but even the dogs under the table feed on the children's crumbs.’"
Mark 7:27–28

This exchange is shocking at first glance. But Jesus wasn't insulting her. He was testing the depth of her faith and teaching His disciples a lesson they would never forget. 

The woman heard the parable in His words and responded from inside it.  

She didn't argue. She didn't demand. She simply said, "Even the crumbs are enough."  

That response stopped everyone in the room.  

Here was a woman who understood something the twelve disciples were still missing: a little of Jesus is more than enough. 

Her humility was not weakness. It was wisdom.  

She knew who she was, and more importantly, she knew who He was.  

She wasn't asking for the whole loaf. She was asking for Jesus to be Jesus, and she trusted He would. 

We often come to God making demands or bargaining for outcomes. This woman models something different.  

She came with full confidence in His power and full acceptance of His authority.  

That combination is rare. That combination is real faith. 

Before you pray today, pause and write down one thing you've been demanding from God. Then reframe your request as trust.  

Ask Him to be who He already is, and watch how that changes your posture.

Prayer:

Father, forgive me for the times I've come to You with demands instead of trust. Teach me to be like this woman, confident in Your power and humble before Your will. Amen.
