Ashamed Of The Gospel?

"For whoever is ashamed of Me and My words in this adulterous and sinful generation, the Son of Man will also be ashamed of him when He comes in the glory of His Father with the holy angels.”
Mark 8:38

Jesus ends this passage where He began: with a call to total commitment.

He is looking at a crowd that wants the benefits of following Him without the boldness it requires.

He addresses it directly.

To confess Jesus publicly is to stake your identity on Him in front of people who may not approve.

It means opening your mouth when it is easier to stay quiet, standing for what is true when culture pushes back, and living in a way that makes people ask questions about your faith.

Jesus is not asking you to be aggressive or self-righteous. He is asking you to be unashamed.

There is a day coming when He will return in glory, and on that day, the only thing that will matter is whether you knew Him and whether you were willing to say so.

Do not let the fear of what people think rob you of the only thing that will last.

Find one opportunity this week to openly acknowledge your faith, whether in conversation, in action, or in boldness when you might normally stay quiet.

Prayer:

Lord, I do not want to be ashamed of You. Give me the courage to confess Your name with my words and my life. I want to be found faithful, not just comfortable. Come quickly, Lord. In Jesus' name, Amen.
