The Power Of Jesus Over Darkness
“Seeing Jesus from a distance, he ran up and bowed down before Him; and shouting with a loud voice, he said, ‘What business do You have with me, Jesus, Son of the Most High God? I implore You by God, do not torment me!’ For He had already been saying to him, ‘Come out of the man, you unclean spirit!’”
Mark 5:6-8
Sometimes the most broken places become the stage for God's greatest miracles.
When everyone else runs away, Jesus runs toward the chaos.
The man in the tombs was a walking nightmare.
Chains couldn't hold him. Society couldn't help him. He lived among the dead because the living had given up on him.
Yet when Jesus stepped off that boat, He wasn't there by accident.
He had crossed a stormy sea specifically to meet this one tormented soul.
Notice what happened the moment Jesus arrived: the demons who had terrorized an entire region suddenly dropped to their knees.
They knew exactly who Jesus was, calling Him "Son of the Most High God."
These fallen angels had known Jesus for thousands of years, yet they trembled in His presence.
Here's what strikes me most: no one could bind this man, but Jesus didn't need chains.
The presence of Christ brought instant submission from an army of demons.
When Jesus speaks, darkness has no choice but to obey.
Look around your community. Who is the person everyone else avoids? Who seems too far gone, too broken, too dangerous?
That's exactly the person Jesus wants to reach through you. Don't let fear keep you from being His hands and feet to the hopeless.
Prayer:
Lord Jesus, thank You that no one is beyond Your reach. When I'm tempted to write someone off as hopeless, remind me that You specialize in impossible cases. Give me courage to go where others won't go and love who others won't love. Use me to bring Your light into the darkest places. In Your mighty name, Amen.
