Shining Bright In A Dark World
"And He was saying to them, 'A lamp is not brought to be put under a basket, is it, or under a bed? Is it not brought to be put on the lampstand?’"
Mark 4:21
You were not meant to hide.
In a world that often feels consumed by darkness, God has placed His light within you to shine brightly for others to see.
Jesus uses the simple image of a lamp to teach a profound truth.
A lamp serves one purpose: to give light.
When someone brings a lamp into a room, they don't cover it up. They place it high where it can illuminate everything around it.
As followers of Christ, we are that lamp.
God has not called us to blend in or hide our faith under the "basket" of fear or the "bed" of comfort.
He has positioned us to be visible, to let His truth shine through our words, actions, and character.
We are called to be witnesses, sharing the gospel with boldness and clarity.
Today, identify one specific way you can let your light shine.
Whether it's showing kindness to a difficult coworker, sharing your testimony with a friend, or simply living with integrity when no one is watching, choose to be visible.
Prayer:
Lord, thank You for placing Your light within me. Help me to shine brightly for You today. Remove any fear or hesitation that would cause me to hide my faith. Let my life be a beacon that draws others to You. Amen.
