People Like The Person; They Resist The Plan

"And Peter took Him aside and began to rebuke Him.”
Mark 8:32 

Peter pulled Jesus aside. He corrected the Son of God.  

He had just confessed that Jesus was the Christ, and then in the very next breath, he rebuked him for talking about suffering and death. 

This is one of the most honest moments in all of Scripture.  

Peter's faith was real. His love for Jesus was genuine. But his understanding was dangerously incomplete.  

He liked the Person of Jesus. He did not like the plan of Jesus. 

That is still the most common spiritual problem in the world today.  

People respect Jesus. They like His kindness, His generosity, His moral teaching.  

But the moment He calls them to lay down their agenda, pick up a cross, and follow, they pull Him aside and say, "Let's talk about this." 

The prosperity gospel does exactly this. It offers a Jesus who gives you everything your flesh wants and tells you it is all from God.  

No cost, no surrender, no suffering. And it grows quickly, because people love hearing that.  

But it is not the gospel. It is a rebranded version of Peter's rebuke. 

Real discipleship means you trust His plan even when you don't understand it.  

Even when it costs you something.  

Even when it does not look like what you expected. 

Identify one place where you have been rebuking Jesus quietly by choosing your plan over His. Name it honestly, and then release it.

Jesus, I confess I have wanted You on my terms. Forgive me. I choose Your plan today, even the parts that are hard. You are Lord, and Your way is right. In Your name, Amen.
