Easter
“Do not be amazed; you are looking for Jesus the Nazarene, who has been crucified. He has risen; He is not here; behold, here is the place where they laid Him.”
Mark 16:6
The resurrection is the most important moment in human history.
The empty tomb proves that Jesus was right, forgiveness is real, and God deeply loves you.
Early on Sunday morning, three women walk toward the tomb. They carry spices to anoint the body of Jesus.
They fully expect to find a corpse.
As they walk, they worry about the massive stone blocking the entrance. They know they cannot move it themselves.
But God had already moved it. When they arrive, the heavy stone is gone.
The women step inside the tomb and freeze in terror. An angel sits before them and delivers the greatest news of Christ’s resurrection.
The angel then gives them a specific mission. Notice the incredible grace hidden in this command.
"But go, tell His disciples and Peter, 'He is going ahead of you to Galilee; there you will see Him, just as He told you.'" (Mark 16:7)
The angel says, "and Peter." Peter had just denied Jesus three times. He abandoned his Savior in His darkest hour. Yet Jesus explicitly invites him back.
If Peter can be restored after a total failure, you can too. No matter how far you have wandered, you always have the choice to return to Him.
Jesus died to pay the penalty for your sin, and He rose again to secure your salvation. The cross brings forgiveness. The empty tomb brings eternal life.
Prayer:
Lord, we praise You for the empty tomb! Thank You for conquering sin and defeating death. Thank You for the specific, personal grace You showed to Peter and the exact same grace You offer to us today. We surrender our lives to the risen King. Amen.
