Good Friday

"Father, forgive them; for they
do not know what they are doing.”
Luke 23:34

It seems strange to call the day our Savior died "Good Friday." This was a day of false accusations, deep betrayal, and brutal torture.

We could easily call it Betrayal Friday or Bloody Friday.

Yet we call it Good Friday because on this dark day, Jesus forged the path of our salvation.

While hanging on the cross, Jesus spoke seven times. Even in immense agony, He offered profound forgiveness to His executioners.

He provided absolute salvation to a dying thief next to Him.

Then, Jesus declared “It is finished” with total triumph over sin and death.

When the tomb closed, the world thought the King of Kings was silenced forever.

But the shedding of His blood paid the ultimate penalty for our sin.

The death of the Lamb brought eternal life for us.

"Weeping may last for the night, but a shout of joy comes in the morning." (Psalm 30:5)

Friday brought immense weeping and heavy sadness. But Sunday brings a shout of celebration.

The place of His death became the exact place of our victory. We have hope beyond the grave. Our hope is Christ alone.

Prayer:

Lord, thank You for the horrific cost You paid on Good Friday. We remember the immense pain You endured to secure our salvation. You took our place and paid our penalty completely. When we face dark days, remind us that joy comes in the morning. Thank You for being our only hope in life and in death. Amen.
