"For he who is not against us is for us.”
Mark 9:40
Jesus only sees two sides. That is a clarifying and sobering truth.
Jesus came to seek and save the lost, to testify to the truth, and to set the captives free. Every one of those missions has a direct enemy: Satan.
The work of Christ on earth is, at its core, a campaign against the works of the devil.
Casting out demons is not a sideshow. It is a direct assault on the enemy's stronghold.
When the man in Mark 9 cast out demons in the name of Jesus, he was advancing the Kingdom. He was on the right side.
Jesus leaving only two sides forces us to ask an honest question: which side are we actually on?
Not just theologically, but practically. In how we use our time, our words, our resources, and our relationships, are we advancing the mission of Christ or undermining it?
When Jesus saw the 70 return from their mission and report that even the demons were subject to His name, He said He saw Satan fall like lightning from heaven (Luke 10:17–18).
Every act of obedient faith is a blow to the enemy. Every step of discipleship counts.
Pick one concrete way to advance the mission of Christ this week.
Pray with someone, share the gospel with a neighbor, serve in your church, or give toward something Kingdom-focused.
Small acts of obedience are blows against the darkness.
Prayer:
Jesus, I want to be firmly on Your side, not just in belief but in action. Show me today how I can advance Your Kingdom in my everyday life. Let my choices count for eternity. In Your name, Amen.
