A Seat At The Family Table
“For whoever does the will of God, this is My brother, and sister, and mother.”Mark 3:35
Every family has traditions around the dinner table. Special meals, shared stories, inside jokes that only family members understand.
Jesus invites us to a table where the only requirement for a seat is faith in Him.
When Jesus declared that those who do God's will are His family, He was extending an invitation to the most exclusive yet inclusive family in existence.
Exclusive because there's only one way in: through faith in Christ.
Inclusive because that invitation is open to anyone, regardless of background, past mistakes, or social status.
Think about what family means: belonging, acceptance, inheritance, shared identity, mutual care. All of this becomes ours when we place our faith in Christ.
We're not just forgiven; we're adopted.
We don't just get eternal life; we get a seat at the family table.
At family gatherings, there's usually one table for the adults and a separate table for the kids. But in God's family, we all sit at the same table.
The newest believer has the same access to the Father as the most mature saint.
We're all children, and we're all heirs together with Christ.
If you're already part of God's family, live like it. Invest in your spiritual brothers and sisters.
If you're not yet part of this family, the invitation is open. Come to Christ in faith and take your place at the table He has prepared for you.
Prayer:
Thank You, Father, for adopting me into Your family through faith in Jesus. Help me never take this privilege for granted. Show me how to love my spiritual family well and how to invite others to join us at Your table. Thank You that in Christ, I belong to the greatest family of all. In Jesus' name, Amen.
