A Cup Of Water In His Name

"For whoever gives you a cup of water to drink because of your name as followers of Christ, truly I say to you, he will not lose his reward.”
Mark 9:41

Jesus is not just building theology here. He is building community. And the entry point is simple: a cup of water.

A cup of water is about as humble an act as you can imagine. No spotlight, no stage, no applause.

But Jesus says that when you help a fellow believer simply because they belong to Him, you will not lose your reward. Why?

Because whatever is done to a follower of Christ is received by Christ as if it were done to Him directly.

That changes the math on every small act of kindness inside the body of Christ.

This is not just about being a nice person. It is about recognizing that every believer carries the presence of Jesus, and treating them accordingly.

It matters what you believe, yes. But it also matters how you view each other, and how you treat each other.

When a brother or sister needs help, the question is not whether it is convenient. The question is: do they belong to Jesus?

Then we are going.

Find someone in your church community who has a practical need this week. Meet it. Do not overthink it.

A cup of water given in His name is never wasted.

Prayer:

Lord, help me to see the people around me the way You see them. Remind me that when I serve a brother or sister in Your name, I am serving You. Make me generous, attentive, and quick to give. In Jesus' name, Amen.
