When Truth Threatens Darkness
"Just then there was a man in their synagogue with an unclean spirit; and he cried out, saying, 'What business do we have with each other, Jesus of Nazareth? Have You come to destroy us? I know who You are—the Holy One of God!'"
Mark 1:23-24
Sometimes the strongest reactions to truth come from the darkest places. The demon in the synagogue couldn't stay quiet when Jesus began teaching.
Truth has a way of exposing what's been hidden and threatening what's been comfortable.
Notice something remarkable: the people in the synagogue didn't immediately recognize who Jesus was, but the demon did.
Evil always recognizes holiness.
The demon's question reveals both fear and understanding: "Have You come to destroy us?"
The presence of Jesus threatens every form of darkness in our lives. When we invite Him into our hearts, our marriages, our workplaces, the enemy gets nervous.
Truth exposes lies.
Light reveals shadows.
Holiness confronts sin.
This isn't comfortable, but it's necessary. The same Jesus who commanded demons to flee wants to drive out every form of darkness that has taken residence in your life.
Prayer:
God, thank You that Your light is stronger than any darkness in my life. I invite You to shine Your truth into every hidden place in my heart. Drive out fear, lies, and anything that doesn't belong in a life surrendered to You. In Jesus' name, Amen.
