The Best Prayer You Have Never Prayed

"And His disciples answered Him, 'Where will anyone be able to find enough bread here in this desolate place to satisfy these people?’"
Mark 8:4 

At first glance, the disciples sound faithless.  

They just watched Jesus feed 20,000 people a few months ago. Why are they asking this question again? 

They are not asking because they forgot.  

They are asking because they know exactly who stands in front of them.  

Their question is not confusion; it is surrender.  

"No one can do this. There is nothing out here. What is Your plan, Jesus?" That is one of the most powerful prayers a person can pray. 

We waste years trying to fix things that are outside our ability to fix. We exhaust ourselves managing situations that were never ours to manage.  

The disciples modeled something better: come to the end of your ability, state the obvious to God, and ask Him what He is going to do about it.  

That is not weakness.  

That is faith. 

There is something freeing about finally admitting you are not enough for the moment you are facing.  

Pride tells you to keep striving, keep strategizing, keep pretending you have a handle on things. But Jesus never once told His disciples to figure it out on their own.  

He invited their honesty. He met their insufficiency with His sufficiency.  

The same is true for you today. The situation that feels impossible is not a sign that something has gone wrong.  

It may be the very place where God does His clearest work. 

Name one situation in your life that is genuinely beyond your ability to fix. Pray it plainly: "God, I cannot do this. What is Your plan?” 

Prayer:

Lord, I confess that I often exhaust myself trying to fix what only You can handle. Teach me to surrender sooner. I trust You with what I cannot control. In Jesus' name, Amen.
