Salvation Is Faith In Him; Discipleship Is Faith In His Plan

"You are the Christ.”
Mark 8:29 

"Get behind Me, Satan; for you are not setting your mind on God's interests, but man’s."
Mark 8:33 

These two verses, just four verses apart, frame the entire challenge of the Christian life.  

Peter confessed correctly. Then he acted contrary to his own confession.  

He believed in Jesus. He did not yet believe in Jesus's plan. 

Salvation is faith in Him. The moment you trust Jesus as Lord and Savior, you are forgiven.  

That is complete. Nothing can undo it.  

But discipleship is something you grow into.  

It is daily faith in His plan. It is choosing His will when yours is louder. It is trusting that the path He has marked out, even the suffering parts of it, leads somewhere worth going. 

The most important question you will ever answer is the one Jesus asked in Caesarea Philippi: "Who do YOU say that I am?"  

The right answer leads to heaven. The wrong answer leads to destruction.  

And the right answer is not just a sentence you say once. It is a life you live every single day. 

Jesus is the Prophet who speaks God's truth.  

He is the Priest who paid for your sin.  

He is the King who is Lord over everything.  

When you say He is the Christ, you are saying all of that.  

Do not say it lightly. And do not say it only once. 

Live it. 

Spend five minutes today in quiet reflection. Ask yourself: Am I living like Jesus is King, or am I living like He is one option among many?  

Commit, in prayer, to following His plan fully today. 

Prayer:

Jesus, You are the Christ. You are my Prophet, Priest, and King. I do not just want to confess it; I want to live it. Lead me today. Correct me when I drift. Keep my eyes on You and my feet on Your path. I am following You. In Your name, Amen.
