He Sees You In The Storm

"Seeing them straining at the oars, for the wind was against them, at about the fourth watch of the night He came to them, walking on the sea.”
Mark 6:48  

It is three in the morning. The storm is raging. The disciples are alone in the middle of the sea, miles from shore.  

And Jesus sees them. Every single one of them. 

The word "straining" in this passage is not a mild word. In the Greek, it carries the weight of torment, the kind of anguish associated with childbirth or even the suffering of hell.  

This was not a rough patch on the water. This was terrifying.  

And yet, from the shore, in the dark, through the chaos, Jesus saw them. 

That detail should stop us in our tracks.  

Before He walked on the water, before He calmed the storm, before He climbed into the boat, He simply saw them.  

God's first response to your crisis is not a fix. It is attention.  

He looks at you. He knows exactly where you are. 

Think of a parent watching a child struggle with something difficult. Not rushing to solve it. Just watching, steady and aware, knowing exactly when to step in.  

That is a small picture of what Jesus does. He does not turn away when things get hard.  

He fixes His gaze on you. 

Today, write down one thing that feels like a storm in your life right now. Under it, write this truth: "Jesus sees me in this."  

Carry it with you as a reminder that you are never invisible to God.

Prayer:

Lord, thank You that You see me. Not just the good parts, but the straining, the fear, and the exhaustion. Remind me today that Your eyes are on me, and that is enough. In Jesus' name, Amen.
