Greater Faith Than Demons

"Throwing him into convulsions, the unclean spirit cried out with a loud voice and came out of him. They were all amazed, so that they debated among themselves, saying, 'What is this? A new teaching with authority! He commands even the unclean spirits, and they obey Him.’"
Mark 1:26-27

Here's a sobering thought: the demons believed in Jesus' power more than many of the people watching.

While the crowd debated and questioned, the unclean spirit never doubted who Jesus was or what He could do.

The demons had faith - terrified faith, but faith nonetheless.

The people were amazed, but amazement isn't the same as salvation.

They witnessed a miracle and started a theological discussion. They saw divine power and began debating doctrine.

Meanwhile, the demon knew exactly who Jesus was and responded with immediate, though unwilling, obedience.

Jesus doesn't want you to be merely amazed by His power - He wants you to be transformed by it.

The demons believe and shudder, but they have no hope of redemption.

You have something they will never have: the opportunity for salvation.

Don't waste it on amazement alone. Move from being impressed with Jesus to being surrendered to Jesus.

Prayer:

Jesus, forgive me for the times I've been content to be amazed by You rather than transformed by You. I don't want to have less faith than the demons who recognize Your authority. I want to surrender my life completely to You. In Your name, Amen.
